All mapped out and nowhere to go
Salvete!
Where have I been? Sometimes I have to stop and ask myself that (several times a day).
We are absolutely booked solid at the B&B ... which is excellent so I have been helping out there. (Hence my household pics from the Museum of London Roman collection - sorry that they are bit blurry.) I was thinking about doing a Blue Badge Course to become a Guide in Cumbria but I chickened out just before the interview stage. I was called and in many ways I was raring to go but I decided that with the B&B being so busy...it was going to be just too much. We also have another project in the pipeline. More of which later.
In the meantime I have also been writing some book reviews for the history website "Heritage Key". Here are the links:
One on Hunter Davies' fab book of Hadrian's Wall. (Really did like this book big time.)
Another photography/history book of The Wall by Derry Brabbs.
There is also another book review on Roman Roads in Britain by Dr. Hugh Davies which is due to go live soon. When I get the link I will insert it here (hence the photo of Roman roads at the top). Here is the link to that review:

The weather up here has been variable. Like the rest of the UK we baked last weekend and now we've gone back to sun/wind/rain/rain-hailstones-cold-wind (that last bit was yesterday). Sheesh. It's probably because I bought myself a new summer dress and shorts in the shops in Newcastle on Tuesday. Today it's sunny/variable/cold again.
I haven't forgotten that I was telling you about my adventures in banking. Normal service (!) will be resumed shortly.
Valete for now, Hadriana xx xx
PS: Hope you are all well. I need to come and check on how you've all been. . .
PPS: Have recently upgraded to Windows7 and having mixed feelings about it. Anybody got any feedback on that one? Be glad to hear your thoughts.
PPPS: Please do support the guys and gals who are doing the Hadrian's Wall Walk in July over at The Joseph Salmon Trust...gosh...they are almost here already........! You can also read about it here at Dan's blog and Jo's blog as well. I've also noticed that Jo is doing a v.g. Hadrian's Wall Grand Raffle click here. Fortnum and Mason hampers and goodness what else. She's getting into the spirit. It's what we normally eat up here you see. (The food not the baskets silly.)

You are quite the busy Lass these days...its a wonder you have time to draw breath! I hope you will go thru with the Guide experience though, I think you would be terrific at it and would have a lot to offer!
Sandi
Hey! very glad B&B going well...weather is always challenging eh?
Just got a windows 7 laptop...best thing I've found so far is Windows Surface...right click on a picture and you can open it to create a collage of pictures....don't know about the serious stuff...
2010 is really taking off for you, isn't it?
Perhaps you can take up the guide experience later...though if the B and B continues like this...however will you get the time?
I know, like all busy, organised women, you'll make it!
Sandi...I am hoping that I will be able to do the Blue Badge thing sometime either in Cumbria or in Northumberland. At least people know I'm around so that's half the battle!
I think I'll be able to do (what is a gruelling course) once both the kiddiwinks are at school. Thanks very much for the encouragement though Sandi!
NB: Windows Surface...wow...must look at that one. I've only just this minute discovered that my "Works" package lets me manipulate old docs which are in different formats. I know I should have known that but I've had such a battle with e-mail problems lately. I think I am regressing on the IT front. Must try harder!!!
Fly: Aw shucks. You know the way to a girl's heart...compliments and flattery will get you everywhere!!! :)
You see I should be logged in as Hadriana and not Catherine.
I've been reading Bridget Jones lately and I think I've been reincarnated into the Bridget Jones mum version @@@@~~~~#####!
Got my Roman stola back on!
So glad business is looking up and I wish you a prosperous summer.
How lovely to see a post from you and I'm delighted that you are busy at the B&B.
As for windows - we are a Firefox household.
Good to see you back Hadriana although I have been away myself for nearly 3 weeks. Great to hear the B&B is doing well, hard work though. Loved the Roman household pictures (could you be thinking of going that way with the B&B!!) A x
Thank you ADDY, FF, SJA...thanks for dropping by. Lovely to "see you" so to speak! :)
